Best Ayurvedic daily schedule for youth

In Ayurveda, there is a whole chapter dedicated to the daily routine. It is called 'dincharya'. Astanghridiyam is an Ayurvedic book, written by saint Vagbhata, contains this chapter. I got to know about this from the sermons of Shri Rajiv Dixit.

In this post, I will tell you exactly how long, one should sleep and work.

Best time-table for students, practical time table, best time to wake up in the morning is before 6, how long to sleep: 6 to 8 hours, benefits of time table, how long to study: 9 hours

Given below is the perfect daily schedule for youth.

  1. Wake up before 6 am: A youth should wake up between 3:00 to 6:00 am. This period from 3 to 6 in the morning is called Brahma Muhurat. Your body automatically receives serotonin from nature. Positive energy flows in when you wake up during this period.
  2. Meditate/Walk: You can either meditate or study after waking up. Or simply walk for a few minutes.
  3. Drink lots of water: After few minutes of waking up, drink lots of water. The water mixes up with concentrated basic saliva of the morning. This helps to clean your large intestine and ease excretion.
  4. Brush your teeth: You can brush your teeth now. Try using natural twigs to brush your teeth. They are bitter and basic. Hence, help to reduce acidity. An example of natural twigs is Neem
  5. Evacuate
  6. Yoga and Exercise: Exercise only after emptying bowels. You can exercise anywhere between 25 minutes to 1 hour, as much as time allows you.
  7. Massage: I usually skip this step. The main body organs to massage are the head, face, and foot.
  8. Nasya: Clean your nose by pouring water through one nostril and removing it from the other.
  9. Bath: Try to use natural soaps and shampoo to wash your body. I use Aloe vera as my shampoo. It keeps my hair soft and clean.
  10. Prayer: Take out some time from your busy schedule to remember God. It will bring positive energy to your life.
  11. Lunch: Skip the breakfast. Take the largest quantity of food during this time of day, around 10:00 am. The digestive juices are at their peak during the first meal. Whatever you eat (of course vegetarian) digests easily.
  12. Walk
  13. Take a nap if required: Your body needs some time to digest the meal. Full energy is engaged in digesting your food. The environment is also warm during this time. So you can rest for some time after lunch.
  14. Work or study cheerfully: for a minimum of 8 to 9 hours a day
  15. Dinner: Take dinner before 6:00 pm. Again digestive juices are active around 5-6 pm. This is the time when the sun usually sets.
  16. Walk or finish your chores
  17. Sleep tight: After finishing your work, it's already nighttime. You should sleep between 9:00 pm to 12:00 pm. Sleep of 6 to 8 hours is a must.
  18. Repeat

Benefits of maintaining a daily schedule

  1. It organizes your day and reduces chaos
  2. It keeps you busy and happy
  3. Prevents procrastination
  4. Increase your concentration power
  5. Helps you getting rid of your bad habits
  6. Make your work life and personal life balanced
